Utah winter wonder

After all the Christmas hoopla we snuck the girls off to Utah.

It was one of our Christmas gifts because Dave and I selfishly knew that was the best way to get more of our girls to ourselves.

And we were right:)

We took off before dawn so tired...all except for Lucy who was much too busy with art and writing to fall asleep.
I'll admit, all this snow and blue hues in the air scared me a little.
I'm too used to the desert by now.

But we were welcomed warmly in all that snow by my mother who had just left us the day before.

We had a few errands to run downtown (one quite important one I'll get to next week), and I continued on my efforts to prove that Hires has the best burger of all time and in all the world:
I think most were convinced..or at least that they had the best peppermint milkshake :)

Dave took the girls on a ski date.  These are the pictures they sent:

Looked pretty freezing to me I have to say, but they came home and tumbled out of the car oozing with excitement about that daddy/daughter ski day where they got the best parking place on the hill, almost got in a wreck, and loved sticking together all day.

I stayed in town since I had a special little date with my high school girlfriends:
How I love these girls of mine who have been with me through thick and thin in life.
(and yes, our shoes are tell-tale signs of where we live...Can't wait to see you guys in February here...don't bring your boots! :)  It was so good to sit for a couple hours and get at least a little bit caught up.

My parents got us into a pretty cool series that we all got hooked on.  This is how we watched:
The next day I braved the cold with these guys while Lucy stayed for a "date" with my parents.

I have a hard time not skiing with my big camera strapped around my neck.  I need to just go on a ski photography trip some day.  It's just so gorgeous up there!
Loved being with these guys and I was pretty elated we could hit the black diamonds all together.
...as long as they took it slow to wait for their mother...

Our hand warmers turned our hands completely black but it was so worth it!
That drive down the canyon was so incredible.

I loved that these girls kept pointing it out even more than I did.

We took approximately 83 pictures but here's a sampling.

Pictures can never do things enough justice in my opinion.

We played so many card games we just couldn't stop.

Love this video showing how much Lucy loved the whole deal...

And Lucy was in all her glory since she kept winning, as usual.

We went sledding:
 (pictures from that back HERE.)
My dad took us on a cross country ski adventure:

And most importantly we got to meet our new baby cousin: baby Faith:
My brother and his family arrived a few hours before we had to leave and Oh boy, did we ever love snuggling up that baby who was born the day before Thanksgiving:
(My favorite thing ever right up there...)

We had a great dinner together that my mom whipped up...
...and then bid sad goodbyes to all those good people.
...and took off back to our own homeland to thaw out :)
Love.

  1. Do you mind sharing what series you are watching? I have been searching for something more wholesome we can watch as a family. Thanks!

  2. I was scrolling through reading and when you posted the first picture of that sweet baby I thought, "Oh she has to be Noah's!" She looks like him! As a complete stranger who has been following your blog for years, I hope that's not too creepy. 😊
