There was something velvet-y good about having my parents around at Easter-time.
I mean, it's always so great to have them around, but it seemed like it had been a big gap since we had seen them last. They were in Australia during all Max's mission send-off hoopla and we hadn't seen them since well before that so we were so glad when they decided to head on down to the desert for a visit.
I mean, there's nothing like having your Grandma to help you make a giant "cell" for science at school:
...or having your Grandpa around to run by your side while you ride your bike to the bus stop and on a Saturday when you decide to wear your pj's all day:
Nothing like bringing your mom along to pack and drive for the organization you volunteer for each month...
And having them both meet your children at school for lunch:
...and take them out on a few dates:
They got to watch Elle and Grace play tennis:
Have some fun discussions around the dinner table:
...and breakfast table too:
I loved that my Dad made his famous popcorn with Claire and her friends one night:
I loved having my mom share my passion for painting Easter eggs:
They got to be there to watch Claire play soccer (along with Josh):
And we played a little tennis and got together with our great family friends.
We got to go get sushi with some of our sweet friends who recently moved close-by:
...and we went to see a movie.
We went to the Easter pageant:
A couple of the things not pictured that I want to remember: 1) a grand bike ride my Dad and I took while discussing the world, 2) a nice conversation sitting with both my parents basking in the sun by the pool, 3) my children adoring every second with my parents and thinking up any new way they could get them one-on-one.
Yep, I know I'm biased but I think I must have the best parents on the whole planet (right up there with Dave's:)
Love this funny picture Claire took from the car when I was dropping them off at the airport.
So grateful I get to call them mine.
