Friday Q & A -- I Love Lucy project update and the upcoming BBS conference

...a day late...

I was wondering if there was an update on the donations for the I love Lucy project that you initiated last fall? Somehow I couldn't find it on the blog but I would love to have an update! {Dave and I did a kind of "call to action" for the "I Love Lucy Project" back HERE.}

The reason you couldn't find it because it's not there.  I started my thankful rant in the beginning of the fund raiser back in THIS POST, but then life got in the way.  I sure have thought about it a lot even though I haven't written more about it...SO grateful for so many people who reached into their hearts to help.  We are so deeply grateful for the generosity of so many.

Kind, generous blog readers donated a couple thousand by using the "donate" button on the I Love Lucy blog HERE.  (That link is always open for donations...we will always be in need of funds to help with the BBS cause.)  There were the funds we raised from the Turkey Trot (back HERE).  There were a whole slew of other people who stepped up to donate in various ways (see this "Cyber Monday" post back HERE), and I was able to add in my Amazon ad stuff to all that.

So, all together the grand total YOU were able to help raise along with matching from us was $10,081 to help BBS kids.  Does that give you chills like it does to me?  If you remember, the main goal with the funds was to start a National Registry for BBS families.  Well, with help from these funds the National Registry is in progress.  The National Registry will help doctors and scientists around the world to speed up their research.  It will help to understand the causes and effects of BBS and what can be done long-term.  And it will help doctors test possible treatments, will make it easier to raise research funds.

THAT is exciting news.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the generous help and support.  We love you.

Now we're on to the BBS conference coming up at the end of the month, which I'm sure will hold more exciting news and updates.  I am on the BBS family board and we have been working hard each week on our conference calls putting things together.

All the information about the conference is HERE.

It's going to be a really good one with a great line-up of doctors and researchers who will be helping us understand research possibilities and how to help our children more effectively.  I love meeting up with so many wonderful families there and feeling their support even after the conferences.  (Click HERE and HERE to read about the other conferences.)

I know there are quite a few families affected by BBS who read this blog.  I just want to be sure everyone has the info. if they are wanting to join us in Iowa.  HERE's the link to sign up.

Once again, thank you so very much for all the help and support through the years.  We have felt the love of so many for Lucy and it means more than I can say.

  1. Thanks for answering my question! It's amazing how much money you were able to receive for the BBS registry. I hope this will really push the research on this disease! Good luck at the conference!
