It makes for very pretty cupboards! :-)
This is going to sound funny, but I used to do that when I would empty the dishwasher for my mom. We had colored cups, and I ALWAYS had to have them in rainbow order! (Same thing with my crayons and markers!) Maybe it's a girl thing?!Also, is there a way that I can send you an e-mail/get in touch with you other than leaving comments on your blog because I have a couple questions I'd like to ask you. (My e-mail address is email@example.com, so send me an e-mail if it's okay with you.) Thanks!
Shawni,I appreciate all your optimism and hope on your blog about families. Congrats on your Mother Award!I have a question for you. Technology- all the screens-tv's, computers, smart phones, ipads, wii games, etc. are starting to overwhelm me with raising my 5 kids.Taking it all away doesn't feel like the right solution. What are some of your thoughts or ideas that you implement in your home in regards to screen time?I know you are busy, no rush or worries if you can't get to this question. Thanks again for all your valiant work on behalf of mothers.
That's how I like to empty the dishwasher when I do it (only I start with the yellow on top) then my teenager goes through the cupboards later and mixes them all up just to mess with me!
love it. I have to put them in sets. my husband doesn't indulge me so much when he does the dishwasher. :)
A little "happy" in the day.
How beautiful! I'm happy at this point that they will empty and put away dishes without complaint. Can't wait for them to organize a bit too:)
Love it that they CARE! That would make me happy too!!
Dear Shawni, this is (I think) the first time I write a comment on your blog. I don't know how I found you, but I've been enchaining many blogs for this last year and there you were. I was surprised at first because many new bloggers were MOrmons, and I even didn't know what that was!! (don't worry, I do now know thansk to Wikipedia and other sources, also bloggers). I really appreciate your positivism about life, about your family and your everyday tasks. I know it's not only the religion, also the personality, and that's something I admire. I'm going through a bad moment now in my life, and sometimes feel confused. I used to be Catholic but in deep reflection found my way out to the world in a new perspective, not including any religion in it. I like to say that I believe in people and people's choices. But I sometimes do not believe in my self, that's the biggest mistake!anyway, what I really wanted to tell you is that you inspire sometimes. And I just saw these pictures of colorful dishes and glasses and inmediately made me think of a chat I had with my mom: when I have my own home, kitchen stuff will be in many different colors! for me it's a way of happiness in our little own world.cheers from Spain!!! :)
Three cheers for organization! Have they organized the clothes in their closets the same way? (I have.)
just in time for Spring!!! Shawni- I replied to your email regarding the Vision Walk fundraiser. Hope you received it this time!!! Anxious to hear your thoughts, let me know if you didn't get it.Ashley
i wish i had rainbow dishes like that, so i could do that too. sweet!
we have those same dishes from ikea.I always put them in rainbow order! :) hahaCall it obsessive, but it makes me happy & that's why I do it! :)
There needs to be a like button for your blogs.
Yeah for IKEA!! My cupboards look the same:)
Oh, Shawni, that is hilarious...doesn't it make the job go faster when you can make something look pretty!
I'm the weird one at our house that puts everything in ROYGBIV. :) And, other holidays when we have red and green plates, or blue and red, or orange and black--- they have to alternate. It is the one and only OCD thing in my world. :)
That would make me smile too! Then again, I smile just about every time I read your blog!
I have been following your blog for quite some time and I just have to say, you and your family make me SO happy! thank you for sharing your love, your struggles and your life with us!
I LOVE it :)
I love the rainbow dishes! You know the rainbow motif is also a symbol for the gay community. In reading so many posts about raising children and teaching them to love themselves I wonder how most parents would react should a secret "Rainbow child" of their own decide to "come out of the cabinet" to them? I have watched 2 Christian families go through this. One reacted with horror and their child struggled to 'change' and eventually took his own life being unable to cope. It was made into a movie called "Prayers for Bobby". The other family only showed love. No judgments no demands simply Christ-like love. Today their son remains close to them and their relationship continues to grow and thrive. I ask you parents of today...what would you do?
How fun! We just picked up those bowls at Ikea last weekend. They are fabulous! I didn't see the plates or I might have picked them up too. (I just came over from Mormon Messages.)
